We Recycle, We Care Environment

  • Metal is our living necessity; Metal is use everywhere from needle to machinery from home to Industry. Lead applied to every aspect of our activity, when you woke in morning, turn on the lights, check your mobile, eat breakfast, start your car, in each stage you relied on lead. Lead provides the critical energy to our society needs and it impacts virtually every area of our lives.
  • Lead is very malleable, ductile, and dense and is a poor conductor of electricity. It is highly durable and resistant to corrosion. It’s properties of ductility, ease of welding, low melting point, high density, and ability to absorb gamma radiation and X-radiation allow for its many uses in the world today.
  • Lead enjoys one of the highest recycling rates in the world, with an estimated 50% annual worldwide consumption being satisfied by recycled material. It will continue to play its part for the environment, with the use of lead in electric vehicles becoming more prominent. In fact, 80% of the lead produced worldwide is used for batteries, 6% for building products and the rest used for smaller applications such as shielding, ballast etc.

Continuous Emissions Monitoring (CEMs)

  • The chimney serving the furnaces have been fitted with equipment that continuous monitoring of dust particles eliminating in air and gas levels discharges to air. This allows us to modify our process to comply with the GPCB norms. Also, our other system at plant for extraction purposes are continually monitoring air emission.

Preventative Measures

Planetfirst adopt and build recycling facility in various design to minimise process impact on the environment.

Bag Houses

All lines that are used for extraction purposes are formfitting with-in-line baghouses. These baghouses filter particulates minimising the impact on the environment. The filtered particles are then reprocessed in the smelter, maximising the recycling efficiency of the plant.

Cyclones

We have bagless modern cyclones system where air enters a cylindrical vessel at a specific angle which causes it to spiral round the vessel. This creates radial forces that cause the larger dust particles to spin out of the air stream and fall to the bottom of the vessel. This design is used to extract dust from our smelter extraction system and collected dusts are recycled again in smelting process.

Acid resistant Battery storage area

We understand the hazardous substance of battery which is harmful for environment and health of our employee therefore all of the lead acid batteries are stored in a separate acid resistant reservoir. This ensures that all battery acid is delimited and recycled in the process.

Effluent Treatment Plant

Effluent water from the within the process is transferred to the effluent treatment plant. Solids are divided into a three-stage filtration system. The effluent then undergoes a neutralisation process and treated with sodium hydroxide and a flocculent to aid the removal of any suspended solids. These generated solids are screened and pressed into dry filter cake. The filter cake is re-fed into the smelters, again increasing the overall environmental efficiency of the plant.
